AmaZulu FC will be confident about getting back to winning in the DStv Premiership on Saturday when they take on Chippa United at the Moses Mabhida Stadium.

Kick-off is at 3:00 pm CAT.

Usuthu drew 0-0 away to Kaizer Chiefs in a DStv Premiership match last weekend, giving them a perfect record over their last two games in all competitions.

The KwaZulu-Natal giants are currently ranked fourth in the league standings, two points adrift of the league’s leaders, the defending champion Mamelodi Sundowns.

If the other results from this weekend go their way, a victory over the Chilli Boys will put coach Brandon Truter’s team in first place.

Truter said that Chippa was a team that was “resolute in defense and can also get you in a counterattack.”

“As a result, we must exercise caution throughout the game, especially when allocating players to the attack, but I believe that once we do so and score a goal or two early, we will succeed.

“We will be good to go for the three points on the day.”

In the meantime, Chippa’s winless streak in the DStv Premiership increased to four games when they suffered a 1-0 home defeat to Mamelodi Sundowns on Wednesday.

The Chilli Boys have since relieved Daine Klate of his duties as the club’s head coach and the team is currently placed 16th in the league standings – three points behind ninth-placed Swallows FC.

With a victory over AmaZulu, the Eastern Cape team will be hoping to move out of the relegation zone, but the last two meetings between the two teams ended in a draw.

Last season, AmaZulu and Chippa drew 1-1 in the Eastern Cape in the first round league clash, before drawing 2-2 in Durban in the second round.

Brooklyn Poggenpoel and Frank Mhango won’t be playing for AmaZulu or Chippa because they have been suspended, respectively.

What does the AmaZulu Head Coach Says About the Match?

AmaZulu’s coach is determined to end AmaZulu’s trophy drought this season after they won the Coca-Cola Cup (South Africa’s league cup) in 1992, ending a 30-year trophy drought for the team.

Brandon Truter, the head coach of AmaZulu FC, is confident that his squad(Lineup for AmaZulu Fc vs Chippa Utd 10 Sept 2022) can carry out his lofty goals during the current 2022–23 season.

Usuthu has performed admirably thus far despite the crowded schedule of fixtures, and the Cape Town-born tactician has his sights set on winning the MTN8 championship and making a run at the DStv Premiership trophy.

After AmaZulu’s 0-0 draw with TS Galaxy in their league debut, Truter said, “I think some people laughed at me and doubted me at that moment. We are hoping to challenge, we are looking to win something.”

“But I think if you are in this industry and you don’t have the ambition to win things, then you shouldn’t be [in it]. I don’t think any team should have a target of the top eight or try to avoid relegation at the beginning of the season. “

As in the Christian religion, “you speak of light and it becomes light,” he continued, “you should aim high, tell yourself [you are going to win], and that becomes the confidence in the team as well.”

We speak about winning things, so I can’t be here merely to make up the league’s numbers or to compete for the top eight or top four spots, in my opinion.

In an effort to get their DStv Premiership campaign back on track, Usuthu will host Chippa United at the Moses Mabhida Stadium on Saturday.
