Match Preview: Seychelles vs Zambia
In the 2023 COSAFA Cup’s final round of Group B matches, Seychelles and Zambia square off at the Princess Magogo Stadium on Tuesday, July 11.
On Sunday, the Pirates were eliminated from the competition after losing to group winners Malawi 2-0. Vivan Bothe’s team opened their season on July 6 at the King Zwelithini Stadium with a demoralizing 3-0 loss to Comoros.
Seychelles will now attempt to exit the competition with pride as they go for their first competitive victory since defeating Lesotho 2-0 in the AFCON qualifying matches back in March 2016.
Meanwhile, Zambia’s 2-1 victory over Comoros on Sunday maintained their chances of moving on to the knockout rounds. Following a 1-0 setback to Malawi in their group opener on July 6, Aaron Katebe scored an own goal in the first half to give the Flames a slim victory.
To have a chance of moving on to the knockout rounds, Avram Grant’s team needs all three points and a successful outcome in the other group match.
