On February 13, 1978, the Federal Military Government passed Act No. 2 of 1978, which established the Board. The Federal Executive Council revised Decree No. 2 of 1978 by August 1988. The changes were formalized in Decree No. 33 of 1989, which went into effect on December 7, 1989. The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board was authorised by Decree No. 2 of 1978 (as modified by Decree No. 33 of 1989) to:

(a) Conduct Matriculation Examinations for admission to all Nigerian universities, polytechnics, and colleges of education (under whatever name they are known).

(b) appoint Examiners, Moderators, Invigilators, members of Subject Panels and Committees, and other individuals in connection with matriculation exams and any other issues incidental or related thereto.

(c) after considering the following factors, put adequately qualified applicants in higher institutions:

I the number of openings in each tertiary institution

(ii) the guidelines established by the owners or other relevant authorities for each tertiary institution.

(iii) the applicants’ declared or implied choice for certain tertiary institutions and courses

(iv) any other topics that the Honorable Minister may order the Board to examine or that the Board deems appropriate in the circumstances.

(d) collect and distribute information on all subjects connected to tertiary admissions or any other matter relevant to the board’s performance of its powers.

(e) engage in any other actions that are necessary or appropriate for it to fully fulfill all or any of the powers bestowed on it by or pursuant to this Decree.

 

All candidates that sat for the JAMB UTME exams 2022, 19th of June upwards can now check their result on the portal.

You can also check your result via SMS by sending “Result” to 55019 and wait for a few minutes. Your result will be displayed on your screen shortly thereafter.

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced that over 1.4 million applicants have successfully completed the current 2022 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination, with the results expected to be issued shortly.

As of April 9, 2022, 1.4 million candidates had taken the exam across the country, with examination towns and centers having completed their allotted number of candidates for the year, and the results of sessions already taken would be released to the respective candidates soon, according to the Board.

JAMB, in a weekly bulletin made available to journalists by the Board’s spokesperson, Dr Fabian Benjamin, said the results would be released with the caveat that after viewing the CCTV footage of the examination’s conduct, any candidate’s result found wanting would be withdrawn if it had already been released or withheld if it had not yet been released.

The Board went on to say that as the inspection progressed, it was delighted to report that there had been no major problems since the state reports confirmed the authenticity of the previous reports received from different accrediting teams.

The Board reiterated its zero-tolerance policy for examination breaches and advised applicants to behave themselves appropriately and adhere to all of the Board’s guidelines.

The 2022 UTME began on Friday last week throughout the country, with 1.7 million applicants registering to take the test.
The 11-day JAMB test, which is being held in over 755 Computer Based Test (CBT) Centers, will finish on May 16. Despite the fact that there are various laws in Nigeria outlawing sexual harassment, many victims are compelled to leave their dream employment, while others suffer from despair as a consequence of unwanted sexual approaches from coworkers.

Janet Abegunde’s supervisor told her one fateful day, “If you want to maintain your job and advance in your career, you must do what I say.” Miss Abegunde, a 24-year-old accountant who had just started her first work at a new generation bank, claimed she became depressed when her employer sexually assaulted her. JAMB will shortly reveal the results of 1.4 million candidates in the 2022 UTME.
