Simba SC 4 – 1 AL Hilal

With a 4-1 victory over Al-Hilal in the first game of the Simba Super Cup tournament on Wednesday at Benjamin Mkapa Stadium, Simba SC officially began the post-Didier Gomes Da Rosa era.

Sven Vandenbroeexk, a Belgian who had led the team to the CAF Champions League group stage, was replaced as the club’s coach by the 51-year-old Frenchman.

And De Rosa, who was introduced three days ago, had a successful debut at Msimbazi as Simba defeated the visiting Sudanese team, who got a goal back from Abdallah Salim, with goals from Larry Bwalya, Perfect Chikwende, and Bernard Morrison, who scored twice.

Bwalya scored the game’s opening goal in the 39th minute by intercepting a pass from Meddie Kagere and putting it into an empty net. In the 44th minute, Salim rounded up the Simba defenders to beat goalkeeper Beno Kakolanya, and Al-Hilal responded right away with a well-placed goal.Squad: Kikosi cha Simba vs Al Hilal 31 August 2022

As the teams entered halftime, the score stood at 1-1, but Simba emerged from the break feeling more rested. In the 72nd minute, Chikwende, who had been acquired from FC Platinum, scored on his debut by converting yet another cross from Kagere.

The reentering Ghanaian, Morrison, who was introduced by Coach Da Rosa, then put the game away for Simba. Morrison made an impressive entrance, scoring two goals in quick succession—the first in the 87th minute and the second in the 90th.

After suffering an injury and missing the Mapinduzi Cup match in Zanzibar, Morrison was returning to the team. Yanga SC won the championship by defeating Simba 4-3 on penalties after the teams tied 0-0 in regulation.Squad: Kikosi cha Simba vs Al Hilal 31 August 2022
