2023 COSAFA Group C Preview
On Wednesday, July 12, Mauritius and Mozambique will play each other at the Princess Magogo Stadium in the final Group C match of the 2023 COSAFA Cup.
Aurelien François’ eighth-minute goal gave Les Dodos a stunning 1-0 victory over Angola on Monday, keeping them in contention to go to the knockout stages. Lesotho’s 2-0 victory against Mauritius in the group opener last week stopped them from having the campaign they had planned for before that.
Not only does Fidy Rasoanaivo’s squad need to win this game, but they also need to perform well in the other group game if they want to advance to the knockout rounds.
Mozambique, on the other hand, was eliminated from the competition on Monday after falling to Lesotho 1-0. Prior to that, Chiquinho Conde’s team came from behind to rescue a 1-1 draw in Friday’s curtain-raiser at the King Zwelithini Stadium.
Os Mambas have now dropped seven of their last eight matches across all competitions, with the exception of a 2-0 triumph against Rwanda in the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers on June 18.
