Uganda will be hoping for a respectable showing in the opening round of the 2022 African Nations Championship qualifiers.
At the Benjamin Mkapa National Stadium in Dar es Salaam, the Tanzanian Taifa Stars will take on the Cranes on Sunday.
Coach Milutin Sredojevic, also known as Micho, wants to perform well away from home and complete the job at St. Mary’s Stadium, Kitende, the following week in the second leg.
Given the team’s month-long preparations, Micho is confident that his subordinates are prepared to complete the task.
Coach Micho stated, “We know their pockets of weaknesses and we want to exploit those then close their points of strength. We believe that everyone is ready and fully focused on the game before us.
“Our goal is to come away with a good result, and we hope to build on that when we play at home against Kitende next week,” said the team. Added he
Milton Karisa, the team’s captain, exudes an equal amount of assurance and thinks the players are up to the challenge.
The Federation has provided us with the best preparation for the Qualifiers, so as players, we are prepared. It is now up to us as players to take up the torch and produce the desired results both at home and away.
On September 3, 2022, a second leg will be played at St. Mary’s Stadium in Kitende. The winner on aggregate advances to the championship match.
